Often the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled with in vain. C. Jung

The prints I make are all carved by hand using the Relief printing method. Most of my work is Limited Edition, and made using the Reduction method, where a single block is gradually carved away and an image is built up in layers.
The block is cut into with small chisels and a layer of colour is printed on all editions. The number in the Edition must be selected before that first inking, as there is no going back with reduction printmaking.
More of the block is then cut away, and a second colour printed on top. Repeating this process until the desired depth is built up, and the Edition is complete. At this stage there is usually very little left of the printing block, ensuring no more prints can ever be made.
Linocut printmaking requires you to slow down, be present, and experiment. As a watcher, a dreamer, and a lover of nature and whimsy, my work is influenced by emotion and intuition, and I allow that to guide my hands and speak in my imagery. Cutting the blocks requires a lot of focus and rhythmic carving, bringing stillness, and clearing thought.

I print on to a quality acid-free paper, using light-fast inks.
As these are all individually handprinted, each print has very slight variations, making them even more one of a kind!
