Featured seller: In My Backyard

Graphic designer and illustrator Katie Wilson takes inspiration from the microcosmos of life in her backyard, capturing it in beautiful, delicate watercolours and whimsical textile products. Katie is a founding member of the Felt community and can be found at many of Christchurch’s maker markets. She loves overcast days, avocados, walking her over-enthusiastic dog, dreaming of an abundant vegetable garden and collecting twigs.

Featured Seller: Silverdarling Jewels

Emma Lumley of Silverdarling Jewels creates jewellery in silver and gold of beautiful delicacy and lightness. Emma trained as a silversmith, but is more inclined towards the intricacy of jewellery making. Originally from the UK, she has lived and worked in Queenstown, New Zealand for nine years. Her work is gentle, feminine and a touch whimsical, with an emphasis on delicate, organic and natural forms.

Featured seller: Ironweed

Jane and Mario of Ironweed produce handmade Kiwiana garden art from recycled steel in their home workshop in beautiful Little River on Banks Peninsula. Jane is a qualified designer and sculptor and Mario is a certified welder. Together they have combined their respective skills to produce a range of designs influenced by their Kiwi colonial backgrounds.

Featured seller: Peter and Kirsty

Ceramicists Peter and Kirsty combine colours reminiscent of the 1950s to create a modern range of bowls, plates, tumblers and vases inspired by popular historic designs. The duo are part of a group of designer-makers with diverse backgrounds in ceramics, jewellery, photography and food. As well as hand building pieces individually, they use many other techniques from slip-casting to china painting.

Featured Seller: The Seamstress

Paula Layton is a busy woman. Owner of two businesses on Felt, The Seamstress and Rockit, she lives in Nelson with her husband and two kids. “Life is crazy busy! When I’m not sewing for my two clothing labels or spending time with my family, I love to bake. I do a small amount of work for a café and have a catering job through summer. I’m a bit of a modern day domestic goddess with no time for house work!”
