I am a Wood Turner and Carver in the Southern Kaipara. I have worked with native timbers most of my life from Saw Milling, Carpenrty, to now Turning and Carving with Ancient Swamp Kauri being 98% of my material I use. Most of the Kauri I use is carbon dated at around 40,000 years old. Its a great feeling to work with a timber that was a standing tree before Mankind was even a thought. The Kauri is the oldest workable timber in the world and is as fresh as the day it was still standing thousands and thousands of years ago being buried and preserved in a soup of Peat and a depth from 1 metre to 6 metre's, I have even cut open pieces and found the leaves still soft with the green and golden colour of my own living Kauri's on my property. The beautiful scent when working with it is nectar from the gods. I now bring the beauty of an ancient material from the earth for you to wear or hold and have in your home.
