Earrings inspired by the beautiful New Zealand native bird, the Huia. (As seen on our PM Jacinda Ardern!).
The Huia is a NZ native bird with stunning, white-tipped feathers. In pre-European times only high-ranking chiefs and their whanau wore the tail feathers in their hair. By 1900 huia numbers were decreasing mainly due to habitat loss, but an international fashion craze for the feathers was started when one was gifted to the Duke of York in 1901 during a visit to NZ. The huia was then slowly pushed to extinction.

Our recycled plastic huia feather earrings represent the impact that our fashion and consumption decisions can have on our environment. Made from PLA (3D printer waste) in Christchurch, NZ by Remix Plastic.

Dimensions: feather 4cm x 1cm at widest point.
Hooks: Hypoallergenic (silver in colour).

Each feather is unique with its own colours (and blemishes) - they are fully functioning and we celebrate their uniqueness, as we hope you do! Please get in touch if you are not satisfied with your purchase and we will do what we can to resolve any issues in a timely manner.

We always ship plastic free.
