With local waste, Anthea Madill creates products that have a sustainable story - not only does this divert waste from landfill but also provides a way to engage people in a conversation around reducing single use plastic. She embeds concepts like kaitiakitanga and circular economy into her works.

​Anthea is interested in all levels of the waste reduction conversation: government and policy, business and academic research, and individuals and households. Through her experiences in science, conservation, sustainability and living a zero waste lifestyle, Anthea business provides environmentally focused education throughout Aotearoa.

Anthea's project Remix Plastic reached over 500,000 people when Jacinda Ardern wore a pair of their recycled plastic Huia feather earrings. Breaking into a mainstream market with a sustainable product provided her an opportunity to educate consumers on environmental issues.

She has been featured in The Press and Stuff, 1News and RNZ. She is a Co-Secretary of Sustainable Ōtautahi Christchurch, a member of Science Communicators Association of New Zealand, Aotearoa Plastic Pollution Alliance, Zero Waste Network and Our World Underwater Scholarship Society Alumni.
