For me it all started with a love for fashion, a few years ago there was a lot of machine embroidered items on the high street which I loved but I just wanted to be able to create my own designs. I attended a one day class in Auckland to learn basic embroidery stitches and was hooked. Initially I did a lot of hoops and gave them to family and friends as presents, then I started stitching on vintage clothing. I've always loved shopping in thrift shops, I love the uniqueness of vintage pieces and thought now I can put my own twist on them and make them even more unique. Slowly our house started filling with things I'd stitched on until one day my boyfriend said "you're going to have to sell some of this stuff!" and Stitching Sid was created.

I've expanded slowly to also create things that make stitching easier like vintage tea cups made into pin cushions, needle minders made from old scrabble pieces and lego men and vintage transfers that I source in thrift shops to hopefully encourage others to start stitching. I also love beading - I haven't done quite as much of it but love buying pretty beads and once I start on a beaded piece I can't stop.

My partner and I live in Auckland NZ so you'll often find me selling my stitching stuff at Titirangi Village Market but we are also involved in a local farmers market where we sell homemade English muffins filled with all the good stuff and homemade hash brown. We welcomed our first baby into the world in August 2020 which has meant I don't get quite as much time for stitching now as I would like, and lockdowns have meant we haven't got to sell at many markets recently either but here's to hoping 2022 allows for a lot more stitching and a lot more selling ♥
