Greetings. My name is Emma, and I have strange tastes. I make jewellery in a style that I call 'soft gothic'.
'Gothic' means, among other things, "of or pertaining to a literary style characterised by gloom, the grotesque, and the supernatural". I've also seen it defined as "characterised by a preoccupation with death". My favourite definition, however, comes from The Lady Of The Manners, A. K. A. Jillian Venters, according to whom gothicism is “finding beauty and whimsy in dark and unexpected places.”
I base my jewellery on this latter idea of gothicism: a 'soft' gothicisim without the harshness, grotesqueness, or the preoccupation with death. A somewhat vintage aesthetic, influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and the New Romantics, the neo-goths and the romantigoths. A romantic, bohemian gothic. A classy, elegant gothic that is still dark, odd, and a little unexpected.

Extension chains, alternative clasps, and most length alterations can be arranged free of charge. Simply leave me a message in the ‘notes for silverlight’ field that will appear when you purchase the item, or use the 'contact this maker' link in my shop to ask whether what you want can be done. Some jewellery pieces cannot be altered; this is usually indicated in the description.

- - - Shipping and packaging - - -
Please note that the "Free with another item" wording in Silverlight Jewellery's listings means that you'll only pay for shipping on one item: all other items in the same order ship free of charge. The item that has the highest shipping cost is the item that determines the shipping rate you pay.
Some customers have found the "Free with another item" wording confusing, but unfortunately it is encoded into the Felt website and so I have no control over it.

I typically post purchases on the working day after I receive payment.
Postage within New Zealand is via Tracked ParcelPost, which has a delivery target of 1-3 days, but can in fact take up to a week to arrive. Please take note of this if you live far away from the Waikato – in Christchurch, for example. I cannot offer a courier or overnight service.

International tracking is unavailable at this time; however, in the unlikely event of a parcel going missing, I am happy to either give you a shop credit equal to the amount you paid (plus free shipping!) or refund the purchase price of the item (not including the shipping cost).
Please note that international buyers are responsible for any customs or duties charges that may apply.

I use mostly second-hand packing supplies, in the belief that this is good for the environment and good for the soul. I make sure that all of these reused materials are sound and clean before I use them. And, of course, I package my items well.
In the interests of reducing the amount of resources we consume, I do not include a paper invoice with your purchase unless you specifically request one. PayPal automatically sends an invoice via E-mail, so you can of course print that for your records if you wish.

If you have purchased from Silverlight Jewellery before and have a Free Shipping card, enter the code on the reverse of the card into the 'notes for silverlight' field that will appear when you check out of Felt. If you have paid via credit card or PayPal, the shipping cost for that order will be refunded to you via PayPal (the money will appear on your credit card even if you do not have a PayPal account). If you pay via bank deposit (New Zealand customers only), you can either contact me, before paying, to confirm the total due, or pay the full amount and I will refund the surplus postage to you.

The risk of buying online is that you cannot try the item on or pick it up to feel its weight, texture, and quality. Therefore I offer refunds (postage excluded) on any item you purchase that isn't what you thought it was, doesn't fit, or just doesn't 'feel' right.
Conditions for refunds are simple and few:
1. the buyer pays for postage to return the item to me; and
2. the item is returned in the condition in which it arrived.
