I’m Richard, and I like making stuff in my shed. As you can tell by my shop, I like to repurpose items that would otherwise be discarded. Partly because I don't like throwing things away and adding to our landfill, but also because I enjoy getting creative with items that are beyond repair.
It’s all self-taught, and that’s what makes it challenging and enjoyable at the same time.
I own and operate my own business (separate to this), so the time I get to spend in my shed is limited and some projects can take a long time to complete.
I usually only make things for myself, my home/business, and friends and family, but what I have listed here are the things I have made for the sake of learning how to make them. They are all unique one off creations. I couldn’t reproduce an identical result even if I tried. That’s partly because of the limitations of the salvaged/recycled items used to make each product, but also because each product evolves and changes as it’s made. I have a vision when I start, but that vision changes constantly throughout the process. Sometimes the best part is hitting a road block in the process and having to research possible solutions. My common solution is “I need a new tool to finish this”. Justified new tools are deemed essential. Essential tool purchases are guilt free. The results are often horribly inefficient, (there is no way I could ever recoup the number of hours I spend on many of these things, or the cost of the tool purchases), over engineered (if in doubt, add more screws, glue, welding, bracing, etc), and different (I’m limited by the tools and parts I have available in my shed). But that’s part of what makes these items unique. The other part is that I use recycled/salvaged materials as much as possible if not exclusively. I often work backwards by looking at the wood, steel ot other items I have salvaged and try to imagine what it could be made into. Salvaged and recycled items add so much character and history, but at the same time, have so many challenges with warping, rust, old nails, etc.

I can create custom made pieces if you have a plan/vision for me to work to. Get in touch.
