A passionate producer & user of NZ Wool & Fibre I am always striving to minimise waste. On farm I hold a monthly Craft Day in my Studio, to encourage ongoing use of fibre, and a Craft Shop selling fibre and handcrafts. Craft Days run on the 3rd Saturday of most months from 10am-3pm - check out the Rewa Rewa Station website Events Page for upcoming dates.
My focus is on producing quality natural coloured wool with good colour variation for crafters. Wanting to experiment with other fibres I then invested in Cashmere Goats and Alpacas to complete my fibre story. With the exception of Gotland Pelt Sheep which only produce grey shades, the natural colour range we produce varies from pale moorit (very light brown) to nearly black using our Corriedale, Romney, Polwarth & Gotland Sheep.
The farms Romney sheep flock became an obvious source to create yarn, so I gathered approx. 300kg of wool and had it commercially spun. This yarn was used to make Romney woollen blankets & snug rugs featuring my own designs, along with yarn for knitting and natural dyeing. Natural colour dyed skeins have now become another wonderful product produced on-farm here at Rewa Rewa Station.
Not wanting to waste anything we now also sell Sheepskin, these have been professionally tanned.
The final piece to my fibre journey is the recent addition of a Belfast Mini Mill on farm to process the fibres produced on farm, which includes the installation of a Fibre Hub including a Loom Room for Weaving.
