I like to sew and I love fabrics. I also love to do my bit to help the planet and support other people to do the same. I grew up with textiles and have had a design manufacturing business in the past. We now live in a magic part of New Zealand and enjoy a huge organic vege garden, our ducks and hens and giving guests a wonderful experience in our original heritage cottage.
I knew I didn't want to keep using plastic in my rubbish bin and nor did I want to buy plastic substitutes. In fact I preferred not have any single use product holding my rubbish. So I concocted a liner which worked for my bin. I then made a second one for when the first was in the wash. Next, I made two for where I work. After that friends were interested. And I thought, this is something everyone should have! And of course, people have loved them and word has spread.
I'm keen to keep 'up-cycling' fabric that I find. Either it has already had a life being something else. Or, more commonly, it is a leftover remnant of fabric that would have no other life. It gives me great pleasure to allow it an important function in a home.
I have created a design business some years ago and its lovely to again be offering a very good product. And also its fantastic for me to have another small business and work from home. I am lucky to have a workroom of my own with plenty of space to roll out fabric and have my machines out permanently.
Textiles have always been a big part of my life. I do enjoy going to look for fabrics and discovering what is available when I visit.
Getting a liner into a package and delivered to a customer is the best reward.
