My interest in pottery began when I was around 23 years old. I found it quite expensive at the time but I managed to do quite a few short courses available to me including wheel work by Jason Harrod, Sculpture work by Sandra Storey and hand-building and glazing techniques by Lynette Van Gruenen.
My husband Paul and I started a family back in 2001 and we became parents to two beautiful children who are now 23 and 15 years old. We ran out of room for pottery and made way for the children and so I waited until 1 year ago to re-spark my love of pottery by joining the Firebirds Pottery group in the community of Whangarei.
I predominately love wheel work and the joy it brings to me, I can totally relax on the wheel and create something wonderful at the same time so I feel its a great thing for me to do alongside my soap making business called Bessie's Soapery which you can also find here on felt.
