I belong to the iwis, Ngati Porou and Ngati Kahungunu. I am currently in my second year of Toi Paematua, diploma year, learning the art of raranga, weaving. The principal medium I work with is Harakeke or flax. I first started weaving 8 years ago when I saw an advert for Fraser High offering a class in weaving flowers and small baskets. I have been hooked ever since. I create baskets, large and small, kete, table runners, lillies, flowers, and most of my designs are original, one off creations, no two items I produce will ever be exactly the same, unless I am making two items that need to be the same, I will do my very best to achieve this. I love what I produce with these hands and the comments I get from people who have recieved my creations are so inspiring to me.
