Tatting is an old craft which produces delicate lace. Using only a shuttle and cotton the lace is made up of rings and chains. The wheel motif in the pendants, which is one of the oldest tatting patterns, uses only rings. Tatting is a very portable – I tat on the bus to work, on planes and while waiting for ballet class to finish.

Having learnt as a teenager I began tatting again a few years ago. My mother taught me to tat and she in turn was taught as a child by her great aunty Emily’s daughter-in-law Doris – hence doristatting.
