I've been making things incessantly for as long as I can remember and I literally learned how to knit at my grandmother's knee.

I currently knit approximately 30-40 hours a week - more in busy or inspired weeks! - and I have a very simple design process.

At some point, I will find myself overwhelmingly excited by the idea of something I want to create. Usually I see my knitted creation fully formed in my imagination and then it's my job to turn that into reality.

I never need to create prototypes when designing, rather it's as if I sculpt with my needles and yarn just like an artist chipping away from an enormous block of marble. It can be hard making sure I write my pattern down as I go along!

Next, is the slower stage of testing knitting my own pattern to ensure it's clear and complete. I knit up extra samples to show different color combinations or slight variations and then, tadaaa! My new knitting pattern is unveiled!
