Plants are beings capable of calculation and choice, learning and memory. (Stefano Mancuso)

I grew up in a horticultural world, but never imagined I would be drawing plants for others to see.

In October 2019, my father passed away, and 6 weeks later I started drawing "a leaf a day." That leaf a day became a sprig, or a small plant a day, and in February 2021 I held my first exhibition, and published my first community plant identification resource Holding Back the Tide - an exploration of native plants in the New Brighton sand dunes.

I work primarily with both oil and water based coloured pencils. The results you can see here.

I'm excited to learn more about the natural world, and share what I learn with you via prints and original art. Thank you for your interest. Briar
