Hello, my name is Yuko. I live in sunny Nelson!
I was born and grown up in Japan. I fell in love with New Zealand through travelling this beautiful country and moved here in 2007.

I originally do Japanese traditional fabric dyeing art. Now I've stopped to do it, because I have a 4-year old boy, I don't have enough time to concentrate on that kind of art.
However I love making something! I've started to make accessories a few years ago.

I have a wide range of interest, so I use a lot of different types of materials, such as clay, Japanese traditional washi-paper, glass, and so on.

My brand name is "BENIYA". This comes from the name of the cosmetic shop used to run by my grandmother and mother over two generations in Japan. BENI means vivid red or lipsticks in Japanese and YA means shop.
I would like to use this beautiful shop name as my brand name in New Zealand.

I usually take part in the Nelson Saturday Market every week to sell my items.
My items listed on this Felt site are few. If you have a chance to visit Nelson, please drop in at my stall at the Saturday Market!!

I hope you get interested in my items!!!

Kind regards,

Yuko
