Hand woven scarf - natural dye
This scarf is woven by hand on a timber floor loom. Each strand of yarn is individually threaded into the loom, and each weft thread thrown left to right to build the fabric.
The fibre is 100% NZ lambs wool sourced from a sheep farm in South Wairarapa. Their wool is entirely processed in NZ.
The check pattern shows off bold colour blocks when the same colour meets, and a nice contrast when mingling with the others. Each scarf is unique, as with natural dyes the colours can never truly be replicated. Dyed using walnut, avocado pips and onion.
This fibre is best described as robust yet soft. It has been brushed to give a soft feel against the skin.
Dimensions 40cm x 1.95m (excl tassels)
