Medium weight scarf made from natural fibres, using non-toxic dyes
Size: 15 x 120 cm double layered
Fibre content: 100% Habotai silk.
Due to the nature and weight of the fibres, the scarf hangs beautifully. Great to wear with jacket, dress or sweater.
This scarf is hand-painted using an Arashi Shibori technique. The fabric is wrapped around a PVC pipe,
secured with string, and the string wrapping enables the fabric to be compressed for dyeing.
The dyes are applied by paintbrush. I like using the pastel shades of the paua shell.
Once dried, the scarf is prepared for the steaming process,
and steamed for 2-3 hours.
This makes the colours permanent, and enhances the vibrancy of the colour
