Stitched Squares Silver Birch (ii): unique fibre art

Several silver birch trees are set in a bright meadow of green, aqua and lemon shades, with dark trunked-trees in the background. The aqua shades merge into blue at a vague horizon, with pale green and olive shades represent the leaves. Over- stitch forms the distinctive tree bark.

This is the 14th in my "Silver Birch Forest" series of fibre artworks which numbers 25 to date (see a brief description of these trees below.) There's a companion piece that's larger, in a plain white frame. If you'd like the pair, I could re-frame this in white to match the larger one.

Main colours: Off-white, greens, blues

Method: Stitching art—mainly long stitch on tapestry canvas. Framed in a simple wood frame with a stand, or could be hung on the wall.
Fibres: Wool - knitting and tapestry wools

Silver birches' bark is white with scattered black fissures. The young twigs are typically covered in white ‘warts’, and feel rough to the touch. The bark becomes much more rugged with diamond-shaped crevices as it gets older.
