Guiding star earrings

A simple bold guiding star, set in the old fashioned way, with a handheld graver and finely tuned muscles and eyes.

I have set these natural dark blue Australian sapphires in diamond shaped earrings to represent the southern cross, a guiding star from way back.

I have hand set the sapphires and hand engraved the stars using my graver (a hand held cutting tool which uses my strength and control only, so there is no machine involved.)

These earrings measure 15mm from top point to bottom point and 10mm across.

I make many of these earrings but they are all different as I engrave each one by eye.

I love engraving with a graver, the process, the simplicity, the skill and the result. You just can’t get that bright sparkle and hand crafted feel with laser cut or cast or roll printing techniques.
