Original Kereru Mixed-Media Portrait (A5)
The kererū/NZ Wood Pigeon is a very large and clumsy bird - you will often hear them before you see them in the forest. Kererū are hunted by birds of prey (falcons and swamp harriers) and also were hunted by people for food and their beautiful feathers. Kererū are easy to spot, being massive and appearing to wear a white singlet.
I really enjoyed the challenge of trying to capture the iridescent feathers of the kererū - I hope you like this piece
