Trivet: Aluminium and jarrah
Made from reclaimed jarrah and aluminium. This trivet features a bold geometric design of stacked 'V's. It is 22cm square and about 1 - 1.5cm thick.
Trivets are a wood workers staple. Everyone has kitchen benches that need protection, but trivets can be boring. So I have upped the anti by machining (milling) a 6mm plate aluminium offcut I bought from a window fabricator. I then transferred the same pattern onto the reclaimed jarrah base. The final result is very contemporary design, with deep colours.
This is a one of a kind, there are no duplicates. Milling aluminium is too rough on my tools to do many of these.
