Purpleheart Wood Shaving Brush

This shaving brush is made from Purpleheart wood with genuine badger hair bristles.

When freshly cut Purpleheart is a dull grayish/purplish brown. Upon exposure to air the wood becomes a deeper eggplant purple. With further age and exposure to UV light, the wood becomes a dark brown with a hint of purple.

The grain is amazing with deep feathering showing through in different light.
As usual, it's hard to capture the real color and patterns with a camera. Best appreciated in person.

It's not too heavy, but well balanced with the brush. Feels comfortable in the hand.

I've finished this with a couple of coats of oil. The shine can be brought back to life with bit of furniture oil, or even something like Neopol. Because it'll be exposed to water and soap as its used, a good clean and polish every now and then will keep it in tip top shape. :)

These badger hair brushes feel nice on the skin and lather up really well.

It would make a nice gift for the man who'd appreciate something different with a little masculine "old-time" appeal.
