NZ wool and silk handspun yarn

I have had a passion for handspinning for the last 30 years or more, hence the name on my labels. I find it grounding, soothing and very creative. I love using my handspun in my own knitting and weaving projects and I also love sharing my skeins with you.

This yarn has been handspun by me and is similar in diameter to a 10ply (Aran) weight yarn.
I blended the colours of wool and silk on my drumcarder and spun two skeins of this yarn. (See other skein listing in this shop). It has been two plied from two bobbins and took me 3-4 hours to spin.
The yarn is soft but has texture and spots of the different coloured fibres throughout its length although the predominant colour is a lovely marled mix of soft mauve, purple and grey with dashes of creamy silk.
It has lots of bounce and is woollen spun to keep the yarn light and airy.
The yarn would work well knit, crocheted or woven.

Needle size - 4.50-5mm
Crochet hook- 6mm
Weave - 6-7.5 DPI
Handwash gently with a few drops of mild detergent in cool water.
