The Day of the Dead is a holiday honoring those who have passed on, and this sculpture is a visual representation of the transitions of life, death, and rebirth. In many traditions around the world the rainbow serpent is symbol of renewal and the infinite cosmos, and carved on the skull itself are Mayan hieroglyphs that represent the river of life. This ceramic piece has been low-fired in an electric kiln and hand-glazed with quality velvet glazes and stains.
