Fibre Art Pendant: Aotearoa Series
Abstract wet felted fibre art in teal with highlights of red and green silk mounted on square gold coloured metal pendant. The luxurious sheen of the red and green silk fibres against the teal merino wool base give the impression of Pohutukawa flowers, blooming against an ocean backdrop. Pohutukawa trees are known as the New Zealand Christmas Tree as they bloom in December and are found in large quantities in coastal areas.
My fibre art is created using high quality New Zealand Merino wool fibre which is hand prepared into layers. Hand dyed silk fibres and wool fibres are then laid out on the surface to form the design. The piece is then wet felted by hand.
The pendant is strung on a quality 45cm, hypoallergenic, silver coloured wire choker. It has a secure magnetic clasp.
