Fantail in chalk and charcoal sitting happily on recycled macrocarpa with real lichen

Listing image #458210
The fantails are late to get up at this time of year, and who can blame them when it has been this cold! But when they do come out they provide so much entertainment as they happily follow you around the garden while showing of all their aerial moves.

Here we find a contented looking chap taking a break from all his exertions. He's obviously got a belly full of delicious bugs! HIs image has been created using chalk and charcoal on a rustic piece of recycled macrocarpa featuring real lichen.

Whether viewing from close up or the other side of the room this fantail appears to be fully at home perched in a tree of his choice.

The wood is part of some very interesting timber that I have recently replaced on one of the gable ends of my bach. I have left the lichen attached in order to add another dimension to the piece.

This piece measures 32 x 19cm.
