These earrings feature smooth, polished rounds of a semiprecious stone called rhyolite. The markings on these stones are organic and flowing: streaks of delicate pastel colours: peach, white, fawn, cream, and grey, like downy feathers. Beneath them dangle antiqued-bronze coloured feather charms.
The rhyolite beads are wire-wrapped with non-tarnish, artist's quality wire.

Like pumice and obsidian, rhyolite is a volcanic rock, formed when lava cools. The different colours and bands are formed by different flows of lava.
These simple but beautiful earrings are a one of a kind design, never to be repeated.

The 'Featherdown' earrings measure 63mm from top to bottom. The feathers are 29mm long, including the baile (hanging loop), and 8.5mm across, while the rhyolite rounds are 8mm across. The ear hooks are without nickel.
