This unique necklace features a beautifully carved little sea-snail, with a spiralling shell, made of glossy, dark green jade from Burma. The chain is sterling silver with flattened, slightly oval links, and fastens with a lobster-claw clasp.

All metals are sterling silver, which many people find hypoallergenic. The jaw of the lobster-claw clasp, and the top baile (hanging loop) of the pendant, are stamped '925', which means that they are designated as being at least 92.5 percent pure silver (the definition of sterling silver).
The clasp can be clipped onto any link on the chain, making this necklace adjustable.

Jade is a semiprecious stone with a long and fascinating history. For thousands of years, jade has been valued both for its beauty and its usefulness. In China it was considered the 'imperial gem', used extensively in the households and burial chambers of Chinese emperors throughout various dynasties. At times it was valued more highly than gold or silver.

This necklace is a one-off design, never to be repeated. Unlike most Whiteleaf Jewellery necklaces, 'Jade Sea Snail' cannot be altered in length.

The chain measures 45.5cm, including the clasp, while our little mollusc friend measures just 16mm lengthwise, and 13mm across at its widest point. Total length of the pendant, including both of the sterling silver bailes (hanging loops), is 27mm.
