These silk pods are surprisingly strong, they don't mind a splash of water, or even a drenching! You can accidentally sit on them and they will pop back into shape easily.
The main body of the flowers are made from the silk worm's cocoon, which is a continuous strand about 900 meters long. This is what silk fabric is made from, but in the raw, unravelled form.
The cocoons have a similar character to felt but are a lot stronger and more rigid, making a durable structure to work with for jewellery.
Approximate measurements:
40mm OR 1.5inches tall (including the bail)
20mm OR 3/4inch wide
This necklace comes with a 18in/46cm sterling silver chain.
Packaged in a tin with a clear plastic window, as pictured. I will happily gift wrap if you wish.
