Rose Quartz Filigree Butterfly Necklace in Sterling Silver with Rubies

This necklace was inspired by the four rose quartz cabochons I had. I thought they would work well being wire wrapped into the four wings of a butterfly. Having a longer thinner cabochon decided the matter as it was the perfect shape for the body of the butterfly.

Each rose quartz cabochon has been wire wrapped in sterling silver. Wings were formed in sterling silver wire and then each cabochon was secured into each wing using a filigree design of sterling silver coils, spirals and whirls. Each wing, coil etc. is then also wire wrapped in sterling silver. In order to give a slight colour contrast a line of faceted ruby beads were then added to each wing. The wings are then secured to the body of the butterfly with more wire wrapping.

The chain is made of s links in sterling silver joined with jump rings. The lengh of the chain is adjustable as any link can be used for the clasp, an open s link.

This butterfly necklace is a unique one off design, perfect for that special someone.

Length of chain: 18 1/2 inches (47 cm). As mentioned this can be adjusted to suit.
