Ornate Gothic crosses, plated in rich-looking copper and antiqued to show up all their details, hang beneath beads of glowing scarlet Czech glass.

The cross charms are brass based, plated with copper, then artificially aged ('antiqued') to bring out their details. Clicking on the largest image will enable you to view the photographs at full size.
Czech glass is famous worldwide for its high quality. These faceted beads, in rich scarlet, are translucent, with coppery-gold colouring at each end. This style of bead — faceted, with a different-coloured metallic coating at each end — is called a 'cathedral bead', because the brilliant colours, sparkling facets, and metallic edging are reminiscent of the beautiful stained-glass windows in many churches and cathedrals.

The 'In The Scarlet Cathedral' earrings measure 58mm from top to bottom. The cross charms are 27mm long and 20mm wide. The ear-wires are made of copper, and are without nickel.
Keeping these earrings hanging, rather than jumbled up in a jewellery box, will help to ensure that the ear-wires do not get opened or bent by other jewellery pieces pushing against them. The Czech glass beads have been simply slid onto the ear-wires, so keeping them closed will ensure that they cannot work their way off the ear-wires and get lost.
