Saint Dymphna was the beautiful and pious daughter of a pagan Irish king and his Christian wife in the 7th century. After the death of her mother, she was murdered at the age of 16 years by her mentally unwell father after fleeing from his demands that she become his wife. The story of St. Dymphna was first recorded in the thirteenth century by a canon of the Church of St. Aubert at Cambrai. The author expressly stated that his writings were based upon a longstanding oral tradition and a persuasive history of inexplicable and miraculous healings of the mentally ill surrounding St Dymphna.
This chaplet is made in the traditional layout of 17 beads - 15 in the circle for the completed years of her life and 2 in the front chain for the Hail Mary and Our Father prayers. I've used beautiful amethyst Czech glass beads in the ciurcle and lovely lavender glass leaves in the front. The center medal is Our Lady of Grace with a tiny crucifix attached, and the chaplet begins and ends with a medal of St Dymphna.

This pretty little rosary/chaplet is suitable for everyday use, or would make a thoughtful gift. It would look lovely on a bedside table or coffee table too, and comes attractively wrapped with a pamphlet explaining how to use it.
