Pondflowers earrings: yellow-green glass flowers with copper

Translucent, leafy-green glass flowers dangle from long, elegant ear wires.
The flowers are wire-wrapped with antiqued-copper coloured bead caps, and their centres are made of chocolate brown glass pearls.

The flowers are made from Czech glass, which is famous worldwide for its quality. These glass flowers are a gorgeous colour called 'chrysolite'; named after the gemstone chrysolite, which is, like peridot, a variety of olivine. The word 'chrysolite' is Greek, and means 'golden stone', after the golden-green hue of the gem.
The colour of these glass flowers reminds me of frogs' skin and pond plants. The glass has been given a type of finish known as 'celsian' – a scorched-looking, iridescent sheen, like the still surface of a pond.

'Pondflowers' measure 49mm from top to bottom. The little blossom dangles are 18mm long, including the wire-wrapping, and 11mm wide. The kidney-shaped ear wires are without nickel, so most sensitive ears should be fine wearing these.
