Lucky's fleece - silky grey lustrous romney wool

Lucky is purebred romney and is one of our mainstay ewes. Born a triplet in the middle of a very nasty southerly storm, she was the only one to make it through the night - hence her name. Since then she's grown into a lovely and also very friendly sheep, and has given us five lambs in the last two years. This year she had triplets, all rams, and you can see them in the pics.

Lucky's fleece a slivery grey colour. It's eye-catching in its lustre and last year it sold before we even had the chance to list it! It has been tested at 39 microns with a yield of 82% and good consistency across the fleece. While it is a very strong fibre, it's also quite silky and has a lovely handle which has made fleece judges consistently estimate it to be 5 microns finer than it actually is. The staple length averages 14-15cm so is well suited to worsted and semi-worsted spinning, and will go a long way.
