Bulela(boo-leh-lah)'s name was inspired by the Xhosa word for 'thank you' - ndiyabulela. Bulela is a button thief, see, and every time he pockets a button, he whispers 'thank you'.

This is the PDF of the knitting pattern to make a Bulela. You will receive full instructions on how to make this plushie. The technical level of the pattern instructions are 'easy', so no intricate stitches or techniques.

The completed plushie stands 30cm high with the antenna ear down. Bulela has two arms, two legs, and two different ears, or you could duplicate one ear if you wish. Or leave them off! Bulela also has a little tufted tail, and some tufted hair and three teeth. The eyes and other detail are embroidered on, but feel free to even felt them on if you feel like it. Safety eyes would be preferred if this is to be made as a gift for a young child. Not recommended for children under 3.

Have fun making this! The DK yarn could be leftovers from your stash, or recycled, about 50g in total. A great leftover yarn buster!

Upon payment clearance, you will be emailed a copy of the PDF pattern which can then be viewed on your device, or printed out if you wish.

Thanks for taking a look at Bulela
