Reclaimed Leather Metamorphic Sashiko/Stitchcraft Thimble

This leather thimble is my own adjustable and transformable design - wear it as a palm thimble on one, two, or three fingers; as a fingertip thimble with the tip covered or open; or as a needle grip. Designed to protect your working hand when using a long needle for sashiko embroidery (the eye end of the needle rests on the thimble, and you can then use your palm to push the needle through while your thumb and finger guide), or with any needle for handstitching especially when working on heavier materials that need a bit of welly to push or pull through. Tightened up and placed upside down on one finger it provides excellent finger pad protection and if you place the needle between the layers it works beautifully as a grip to pull the needle through.

It's handcrafted from a salvaged piece of wine-red leather and some leftover face mask elastic from those bad old days.

If you've never used a palm thimble for your embroidery before they can take some getting used to but they're well worth it in the end, and in the case of sashiko will allow you to work long stretches of stitches at once with much less strain on your hands. I designed this one to be as versatile as possible - it can transform in many ways so you can find the best use and coverage for you and your style of working.
