Abuot the ponga:
Ponga, or silver fern (cyathea dealbata), is a tree fern that can grow up to 10 metres tall. It thrives in moist, shaded areas of New Zealand’s forests. The ponga is distinguished by its silver-white undersides of its fronds, which are culturally significant to Māori and widely recognized as a national symbol of New Zealand. Traditionally, the fronds were used for bedding and as thatching material. The pith of young fronds was sometimes eaten in times of scarcity.
