Soft brown rug

Lovely soft brown rug, made from old flannelette sheets, of about 105cm diameter and about 1.5cm depth. Well worn and very comfy underfoot or over a couch, it could double as a heavy weighted blanket for someone as well.

Crochet makes the rug very forgiving. It can be pulled and stretched into position. It can be thrown into the washing machine if it gets dirty, since it is made of well washed bed-linen. Gently pull it into a circle over the washing line and it will be back to its usual shape, with a few tweaks and pulls once completely dry.

All of my rugs are hand-made by me while I sit with my family as they play. Any pieces that are not used in making the rugs are saved as soft, fluffy fill for cushions, or harder fill for toys! I want to reduce our impact on our world by reusing whatever we can.

I began making rag rugs to cover our own floors when I was given a huge stash of fabric that was not useful for anything else. I joined the small pieces together in rainbow colour range, added it to old bed-linen and my new favourite occupation was born.
