Handmade Doll

Materials - papier mache and wire head with body and clothes made from upcycled fabrics.
Each doll is a one off, body and clothing all completely hand stitched and created with love.
These little art dolls have all been lovingly created by hand in the way I imagine my ancestors did, catching quiet moments here and there in front of an open fire, sourcing fabrics from a leftovers bag stored in the bottom of a cupboard they might have had for ages and finding joy in watching cute little faces come to life with the final delicate stroke of a brush. They really have been a labour of love.
Created in much the same way I would approach a painting, they are "painterly" if you like, meaning they are not perfect, clothed from a burst of inspiration rather than meticulously planned and the stitches are like the brushstrokes tying them all together, sometimes random, always inspired and perfectly imperfect. Their heads are made from papier Mache and each unique little face has been hand painted.
Sustainable
I wanted to create something that was kinder to the planet, so the bodies and clothing are all put together from upcycled materials with sustainability in mind.
Designed more as an ornamental doll, rather than a dress up style one, they are not really suited for very young children. They can be played with of course, but prefer to be handled with care:)
