Embroidered Vintage Wool Suit Kararehe o te wai
This vintage wool suit is made in New Zealand by “Fays”. I have embroidered various New Zealand sea creatures on it using my vintage Singer chainstitch embroidery machine. Chainstitch is hand guided embroidery, not digital. It results in a very tactile and rich finish.
The jacket is a vintage 14 (estimate modern 12). It is fully lined, has shoulder pads, pockets and a single button closure. Measured flat as follows:
Bust (pit to pit) 53cm
Shoulders 41cm
Sleeve length from shoulder 54cm
Jacket length 63cm
The skirt is fully lined, has a kick pleat at the front and slant pockets. Features a back zip and button closure. There is one tiny hole which I have mended. It is not noticeable. Vintage size 16 measured flat as follows:
Waist 40cm (32”)
Hips 55cm
Length 62cm
