'Winston' #5 - our really cool possum puppet!
'Winston' KITSET #5 (Funky forest green base with long cream and brown mottle) - another of our "Softies with Attitude"!
Yes, we know possums are a major pest in New Zealand but our Winston is unique as he doesn't have a mouth so can't eat the forest or native birds eggs! Nothing down below so he can't breed either...... He is very cute and has been really popular at craft shows around NZ - in fact you may have even seen or heard about him before. Winston fits an average adult size hand and is really easy to bring alive with only a little practice. You can pop him over a drinks bottle when not in use and then he looks just like a normal soft toy. His tail can be weighted a little with pellets so you can hang him around the house. He even has pipe cleaners in his paws so he can hold onto things.
The kit is pretty easy to make, the body can be hand or machine sewn BUT we recommend a sewing machine for his paws.
He has been made from high quality artificial fur fabric with hard wearing velour paws.
His body is 33cm + his tail.

The KITS contain - full paper pattern, synthetic fur as shown to make Winston, paws, inner ears and nose fabric, pipe cleaners for fingers, safety eyes. Includes a small bag of pellets for weighting his tail.
You will need to provide colour matching cotton, a handful of poly fill stuffing (an old pillow?) and time!
ARE MY SOFTIES FOR YOUNG CHILDREN?
Sorry - no. Because they contain pellets and wire we do not recommend them for children under 5 years old.
I find my designs are sold mainly to older children or adult collectors who don't tend to chew on them!
CARE
As possums don't like baths, we recommend a light vacuum occasionally. He might smile as he is ticklish.
If your Winston has been very naughty and dribbled something on himself then a light surface sponge with warm soapy water will do the trick.
