I felt inspired to paint Mitre Peak and Milford Sound in this way because it’s such an iconic scene, but hardly any artist paints it honestly. 9m of rain falls out of the sky in Milford Sound annually, and people from around NZ & the world drive the long winding road only to be greeted with pouring rain and sometimes no sight of Mitre Peak at all.
