The inspiration:
The ngirungiru/South Island tomtit is endemic to NZ, and one of 5 species of tomtit in the country, inhabiting forest and shrublands. These adorable, small birds have large heads and a 'squeaky wheel' type call. Males are a striking black and white, while females are a duller black/brown. The tomtit's primary method of foraging involves scanning the surrounding area while perched on a branch or clinging to a trunk, and then flying forth to snatch up a prey item or moving to another perch to scan a new area.
Care:
- Made with materials that contain lead. The risk is minimal, but as a precaution wash hands after handling to avoid ingesting particles.
- Best kept inside for longevity.
