Made from this amazing, rare, chocolate brown, salvaged Mataī timber, which has been buried under the ground for the last 600 years. Discovered during excavation work in a new property development in Christchurch and carved into the perfect coffee spoon.
90mm long by 50mm wide and 30mm deep.
Carved by hand in my kitchen while listening to the audiobook The Parihaka Woman by Witi Ihimaera.
Sanded silky smooth and finished with food safe pure Danish oil giving it a deep dark chocolate brown colour.
