The bowl as second-class item as the bottom finishing is not perfect (ie: the tenon shows tools marks). It would make for an excellent large size salad or fruit bowl.
Black Walnut is not easily available in NZ - most is imported into New Zealand as it is native to North America. Where it is available, it is in limited quantities that is mainly used for making furniture.
