Amber Iridescent Fused Glass Gerbera Flower Bowl

This fused glass flower bowl is made from different shades of amber glass, with the top layer of petals in a shimmering iridescent amber. The centre of the flower features hundreds of tiny charcoal coloured glass balls, highlighted around the edge by sparkly balls made of dichroic glass. Each petal is hand cut so no two bowls are the same.

This piece was fired in the kiln twice. The first fusing, at a lower temperature than normal, meant that the petals and glass balls retain lovely texture and definition whilst still being gently rounded. The second firing used heat and gravity so that the glass flower slumped into a ceramic mold. The mould is fluted, so the petals have a natural undulation.
