The endemic Black Stilt is one of the rarest wading birds in the world, and critically endangered.
Once common throughout NZ, their small population is now intesively managed to ensure their survival.

Found in the braided rivers and wetlands of the MacKenzie basin in North Otago. Their windswept habitat is harsh and vast, with glacial waters and rocky riverbeds, where they feed in the shallow pools and streams.

Featured in striking black, against a soft grey blue background, with highlights of white and taupe.
