Alphonse Mucha, a painter, illustrator and graphic artist who lived in Paris during the Art Nouveau period (1890 -1910) is best recognised for his theatre posters of French stage actress, Sarah Bernhardt. Mucha gained great commercial success with his theatre work which lead to him producing a number of commisions for poster designs for a number of well known commercial brands including Moet & Chandon and Nestles.
These earrings are taken from a Sarah Bernhardt poster, 'Zodiac' 1896.
