Cathy - beach pebble earrings - handmade

Formed by the earth, smoothed by the sea and handmade into jewellery.
This design was created with a nod to the Maori Koru, the unfurling spiral of a new silver fern leaf. Symbolising new life, growth, strength and peace I thought these were life aspirations worth celebrating.
I have chosen the stones for their shape as a flat disc on which I can rest the koru coil. Made totally from sterling silver the coil was shaped on one of our local shells to make the spiral before I flattened it onto the stone. These earrings do need to be kept with care as the coil is not actually attached. Each piece is completely exclusive as no 2 sets of stones are the same.
These are made from Ruby Bay, Tasman beach pebbles and sterling silver.

Who is Cathy? Cathy is a very dear friend of mine who is a fighter extraordinaire. She grabs life with both hands and great passion. With the Koru emphasizing new life, new hope and new beginnings I felt that this piece was definitely my Cathy piece.
